New Global Curriculum Themes

February half-term is not only the mid-point of the academic year, it also marks the end of the current Global Curriculum themes. The children have been working incredibly hard since returning after Christmas and next half-term will bring fantastic new learning environments and more exciting opportunities for children to gain new knowledge! School staff will be busy over half-term to put everything in place for a memorable start when we return to school.

Old Uniform 

If you have any old items of uniform in reasonable condition that you no longer need, particularly jumpers and cardigans, please consider sending these into school after half-term. Having spare items is always helpful and it will also help the school to enforce it's uniform policy.

Miss Steed is also on the lookout for black jazz or character shoes - if you have any that your child has outgrown and that you are willing to donate, please let Miss Steed know! 

Staffing After Half-Term

Miss Sim

Yesterday marked Miss Sim's final day at Grendon - it was a lovely day in school and I am sure that Miss Sim will have left with no doubt as to how appreciated she was. Miss Sim has followed our current Year 6s throughout the school from their very first days in Reception and here they are together for one final pose!  

Miss Jenkinson

Miss Jenkinson will be away from school for the whole of next half-term. In her absence, Mrs French will be teaching Cedar Class. Important transition work has taken place so that school can ensure a high level of quality and consistency for the pupils.

An Indian Banquet!

Cedar Class rounded off their curriculum theme of India with a packed day out - they visited a local Hindu Mandir for a guided tour and to see many of the things they had learnt about in school. From here, they headed over to Little India in Earls Barton for a cooking demonstration and an amazing Indian meal of rice, poppadoms, naan bread and a selection of curries. Huge thanks to the volunteers at the Mandir and to the Vaid family for helping to make the Mandir trip possible.

The school is also extremely grateful to Maz and the team at Little India for opening up their restaurant for us, showing our pupils how to cook the perfect curry, serving us up a magnificent feast, catering for the children's dietary requirements (with a little assistance from Miss Jenkinson!) so that they all had a delicious, balanced meal and generally bending over backwards to accommodate our group to ensure that they all had a fantastic experience.
