e-Newsletter #14: Friday 1st March 2019 | ||
Hello Visitor,Engagement WeekPupils returned after the half term break to find their new learning environments! Year 5/6 are in the Far East, EYFS are learning all about space and dinosaurs, Year 1/2 have travelled to Australia and Year 3/4 find themselves deep in the Amazon Rainforest! The children have already discovered so much information about their new curriculum themes. A huge thank you must go to the staff who spent their half term break creating these amazing learning spaces. To see the look on the children's faces on Monday morning and throughout the week makes all the hard work worthwhile. Jump On BoardPupils from Cedar Class took part in the fantastic 'Jump On Board' concert last Sunday at the Spinney Hill Theatre. Over recent weeks, the children have been working on their musical interpretation of the children's book 'The Train Ride' with music student and former Grendon pupil, Harriet Brown. The performance was a huge success and involved children from two other schools - you can see our pupils on the front row in the picture below. A New Residential!As mentioned in the last newsletter, Grendon Hall will cease to operate as an Outdoor Education Centre in March 2019. Whilst this news is very disappointing for a number of reasons, I am delighted to report that a new residential has been booked for our current Year 4 cohort (who were supposed to be staying at Grendon Hall in June). Year 4 pupils will travel to the Frontier Centre in Irthlingborough for a 2 night residential where they will encounter the same types of activity that they would have experienced at Grendon Hall. I am already looking into provisional bookings for next year. Parents' EveningParents' evening appointment requests are currently being timetabled and will be shared with you imminently.
