Hello Visitor,Dodgeball Champions!
I don't quite know what it is that transforms our usually mild mannered children into the ruthless conquerors of every team that gets in their way but, whatever it is, it obviously works. A huge well done to the children for another memorable victory. How many players do you recognise from this team photo of our first Dodgeball Champions? School ValuesThe school is currently in the process of reviewing its values. Many thanks to all of the parents who responded before Christmas with suggestions about which values they thought would be important to prioritise at Grendon. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to respond, I have sent out letters asking for your feedback. Please return your suggestions for values to school before half term. Open AfternoonPlease join us for Open Afternoon on Wednesday 13th February at 1.30pm (starting in the school hall) for Open Afternoon. There will be short performances from each class in the hall after which you will be able to explore the classrooms, see the work that the pupils have completed and talk to them about their studies. Willow Class will be running their Harry Potter themed business enterprises over in the mobile classroom and so please pay them a visit! Term DatesTerm dates for the 2019-20 academic year will be added imminently to the 'News and Calendar' section of the school website. 2018-19 term dates are found here too, along with the main events in the school's calendar. The overnight Year 2 residential will take place slightly later in the academic year - watch this space! A Letter From The Department for EducationI received a letter this week from the Department for Education, congratulating the staff and pupils on its 'very high standard of achievement' in writing. Based on data from the 2017-18 academic year, Grendon CE Primary School is in the 'top 1% of all primary schools' in England for achievement in writing. The letter goes on to say: 'We want to equip every child with the fluency in writing necessary to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and your school has provided this to all your pupils. 'Thank you for producing such high standards through your hard work and professionalism, and congratulations again to you and your staff for all you have achieved.' Here is the letter in full:
