Hello Visitor,

Key Stage 2 SATs Results

National Context

The main headline from this year's SATs is that national outcomes are slightly improved overall but remain below pre-pandemic levels. The percentage of Year 6 pupils in England reaching the expected level in all three of reading, writing and maths is 61%.

School Context

Grendon CE Primary School has performed extremely well in this year's SATs.

I have spent time looking at the data over the last 24 hours and I am delighted with the very high levels of attainment in all subjects. The school data compares very favourably with national and local data and, given that the pupils' education was heavily disrupted by the pandemic, they have achieved remarkable results which are testament to their hard work, positive attitudes to learning, high levels of well-being and the wonderful support from school and home they have received over many years.

Mamma Mia Margherita

Pine Class pupils brought their Italy theme to life on Thursday when they opened Mamma Mia Margherita Pizza Restaurant for one day only! Many thanks to top chef Chris Macarthur for once again giving us a day out of his busy schedule to work with the children in the kitchen and support this brilliant enterprise. All apsects of this enterprise are heavily led by the pupils, from allocating bookings to baking pizzas, and it was wonderful to see them at work and for their efforts to be acknowledged by the many great comments they received and the very generous cash donations.

Sports Day

The weather was very kind to us on Tuesday and although the skies were grey, the heavens didn't open and we enjoyed a mainly dry sports day. We rattled through about 60 races in a little over an hour and the children were fantastic as always. There can only be one winner and Green House pipped Red House to the post and remain our undisputed champions!

The support for the event was brilliant and the children loved hearing the encouragement from both sides of the track.

Surfing

A huge thanks for Andy at USB2U www.usb2u.co.uk for providing more brilliant, personalised USBs containing 200 photos of the recent Year 6 residential to Perranporth. Each of the Year 6s who participated in the residential will be handed one of these fabulous souvenirs from the trip before the end of term to look back on now and in years to come.
