  Hello Visitor,

Residentials

Our Year 4s returned from a brilliant residential this week and Year 6s had a wonderful week in Perranporth. Both groups were blessed with (mostly) fantastic weather.

Once again, it was a privilege to take such fantastic groups of children away. It is only because we put some much faith in our pupils' excellent behaviour that we are able to run these trips, particularly taking them all the way to Cornwall. Children have to embrace new experiences, interact with the public, look after each other, take themselves out of their comfort zone and be fairly self sufficient and they were all brilliant (and Year 6s slept extremely well!).

Thank you to the staff for giving up their time to make sure the trips happen. Next week, Year 2 have their overnight trip to Macqueen House and we all wish them a very happy time.

Move-Up Morning

Move-Up Morning takes place on Monday 8th July - an exciting opportunity for our pupils to get a taste of what next academic year has in store.

Your child will be registered in their new class on Monday morning and so current Year 4 and 5 should go straight to Willow, current Year 2 and 3 should go to Pine Class and current Reception and Year 1 should do to Cedar Class. This will leave the coast clear for our new Reception cohort (September '24 intake) to spend the morning in our EYFS Class. Current Year 6s should head straight to the hall.

Children will return to their current class after lunch and so should be collected as normal at the end of the school day.

School Photos

Please access the recent school photos via this link. From there, you will also be able to place orders. The password for you to access the site will be sent separately via the text service. There is a tight turnaround to get orders back before the summer break but photos can still be ordered after this time.

Encanto Tickets

encanto

All ticket requests have been allocated and can be paid for via ParentPay. I am delighted to report that the school has been able to accommodate all ticket requests. Paid tickets will be sent  home in book bags and, as the show will be sold out, you must bring your tickets on the evening to get in.

Once again, the performance will be professionally recorded and uploaded to the school website for everyone to enjoy. I will share details of this in due course.

As in previous years, we can accommodate anyone with mobility issues - please email me at  and we can allocate appropriate seats.

Independence Day Celebrations

The whole school came together yesterday afternoon for USA themed activities to celebrate Independence Day. Thank you to Willow Class for organising such a thoughtful and fun afternoon, all based around their American studies this term.

Music

After many very successful years of fantastic music tuition and wonderful whole school performances, carol services and other church events, Mrs Austin is leaving at the end of this academic year to pursue an exciting new venture. I would like to thank Mrs Austin for the brilliant music provision she has brought to our school.

I am delighted to report that Miss Hunting, a former teacher at Grendon and an amazing music specialist and choir leader will be joining us from September. So you can expect the continued excellent music provision and more fantastic singing.

Class Teachers

The first thing to let you know is that, from September, Mrs Gookey will be Miss Breakspear.

Classes for next year will be as follows:

EYFS (Reception & Nursery) - Mrs Dyson (Mrs Nixon on Monday)

KS1 (Year 1/2) - Mrs Carter (Mrs Nixon on Thursday)

LKS2 (Year 3/4) - Miss Steed (Mrs French on Friday)

UKS2 (Year 5/6) - Miss Breakspear (Mrs Nixon on Friday)

Family Picnic

Vanessa, our cook, will be providing packed lunches instead of a hot meal on the last day so that we can all eat together. If you order for the last day, the 'main' will be ham sandwiches and the 'veg' option will be cheese sandwiches (plus the usual packed lunch extras).
