  Hello Visitor,

School Library

The school library was installed at the weekend with the final touches taking place over the course of this week. Children have been busy transferring books from their temporary home and sorting them onto the new shelves. It looks brilliant!

FOGS has worked incredibly hard to raise and commit money for this project and have allocated £4000 to fully-fund the library refurbishment. Your support for their events, including World Book Day mufti, is crucial to their efforts. Alex and the FOGS team are a small but committed group who give up a huge amount of time to organise fun events and raise money to improve the education of pupils in our school and their work is very much appreciated.

Library collage

Special thanks to Adrian Bayes who designed, built and installed the library. The school obtained various quotes for the library refurbishment which were all well in excess of £10,000 and so Adrian’s incredibly generous offer to create our new library at a fraction of that cost was far too good an opportunity to pass up. Adrian gave up his weekend to install the library ready for World Book Day and the reaction of staff and children to this amazing new space has been wonderful to see. It is a vast improvement on what was there before, a real focal point for the school and somewhere the pupils will thoroughly enjoy spending time.

Incorporated into the design is ample bookshelf space for fiction and non-fiction texts, high quality graphics, spotlights, storage units and also a large panel which will soon be home to a whiteboard to allow individuals and groups of children to be taught.

Thanks also to our friends at Kent Electrical Company for answering my plea to down tools on another job and head over to finish the lighting in time for World Book Day!

Without all of this support, the library would not have been a feasible proposition and so thanks to all who had a part to play in making this project happen.

Dancing Schools UK

Congratulations to our Year 3/4 dancers who competed at the Dancing Schools UK Competition last Saturday. The children were a wonderful credit to the school and saved their best performances for the big night. The team finished 4th overall and, as you can see from the photograph, it was smiles all round! Well done to you all and many thanks to Miss Steed and Mrs Comery.

World Book Day

A grand total of £200 was raised which will go towards the new school library. Many thanks to all who contributed towards this amazing amount and for all the children (and staff) who participated in our World Book Day mufti.
