  Hello Visitor,

County Finals

Many congratulations to our tag-rugby team for representing the school at the County Finals on the last Tuesday before half term. You may remember that this was not a small-schools competition; after winning their district competition to qualify for the finals, our players once again found themselves up against some huge schools - the best from Northamptonshire. Although Grendon didn't come away from this competition as County Champions, they were nonetheless a credit to the school and we are very proud of them all.

Open Afternoon

Open Afternoon was as popular as ever and the children were very proud to share all of their fantastic work with you. Thank you to all of those who were able to attend this event - it is your involvement that makes it all worthwhile and we are so grateful for your support.

Staff are already extremely hard at work preparing for the next curriculum themes which will begin as soon as the children return to school after half term.

World Thinking Day

On 22nd February each year, Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from lots of different countries celebrate World Thinking Day. This date was first celebrated in 1927 and marks the joint birthday of World Chief Guide Olave Baden-Powell and her husband, the founder of the Guides, Robert Baden-Powell. In the United Kingdom, a joint service is held by Girlguiding UK and the Scout Association in Westminster Abbey, London. During the service, wreaths are laid on the Baden-Powell memorial stone.

This date is also known worldwide as Founders Day. It is a day for Scouts and Guides to renew their promises together and reflect on how the century old values of Scouting are still relevant today.

To mark World Thinking Day and to respond to requests from local guide groups, the school is inviting boys and girls involved in the various guide and scout groups to come into school on 22nd February wearing their scout/guide uniform if they would like to do so.
