  Hello Visitor,

Year 6 Residential

There will be a final Perranporth meeting on Thursday 17th June at 4pm to go over the itinerary and kit list, recap on our expectations for the trip and to provide the opportunity for you to ask any questions.

A Teams Meeting link will be sent out via email to you.

Dates

The school calendar includes the important dates for the remainder of this term. Please take a few minutes to check these here.

We have provisional plans to run the following events but we must wait until the next phase of lockdown easing is announced before we can share the details. Whilst we are very confident of being able to invite Year 6 parents to join our Leavers' Assembly, it is less certain whether the family picnic will take place and sports' afternoon may have to happen without an audience if that is what the guidance dictates.

Wednesday 14th July - Sports' Afternoon at 1.30pm

Friday 16th July - Leavers' Assembly at 9.30am

Friday 16th July - Family Picnic from 11.30am-1.00pm

New Reception Intake & Nursery

I am delighted to say that our Reception cohort is once again full for September. Starter Packs have been written and will be emailed and posted to the parents of our new cohort in the coming days. Induction arrangements are included in this document, along with all of the other relevant information around things like daily routines and uniform.

Our Nursery cohort will be able to attend from Monday 13th September 2021.

Wollaston Transition

Head of School, Mr Anderson, visited us today to give an assembly to the Year 6 pupils who are making the transition to Wollaston School.

As the children will be in Perranporth during the planned transition days at the start of July, there will be a bespoke transition day for our Year 6 pupils transferring to Wollaston - this will take place on 12th July, details to follow. This will be in the same format as the other transition days but will be condensed into a single day.

A Powerpoint of this morning's meeting will be made available and I will add this to the school website as soon as I receive it. You will remember from the information pack shared by Wollaston that there is a Meet The Tutor session on the evening of 5th July. Mr Anderson confirmed this morning that this session would be entirely appropriate for parents to attend without their children (who will be in Perranporth).

Arrangements Post-Covid

Many adjustments have been made to the running of the school to make it safe during the pandemic. Now that restrictions are beginning to ease and we look forward to the prospect of returning to normal in September, the school is reviewing the changes that we have made as there may be some that we decide to keep.

For example, in response to DfE guidance on minimising the amount of equipment travelling between home and school and to ease space in cloakrooms, pupils have been wearing PE kit to school on PE days. The school has received extremely positive parental and staff feedback on this and so it is likely that we will keep this arrangement in September.

As the children will be spending a significant amount of time in their PE kit, it's a good opportunity to set our expectations around this. I have included a link to our uniform supplier here. Pupils should wear trainers, a white t-shirt and blue (or dark coloured) shorts. For outdoor sports, children can wear dark coloured joggers and a hoodie/top but these should be plain with no large logos.

The school will bring you details of any other changes for September in a timely way so we can all hit the ground running in the new academic year.

Teachers are busy updating Pupil Profiles for the Summer Term. A number of folders have not been returned and so please send these back at the start of next week. Many thanks.
