Dear Visitor

Mary Poppins

Following on from the incredible performance of Mary Poppins last week, I am delighted to share that the professional recording of the show is available to view from the school website homepage.

Sports Day

The races came thick and fast as usual. It was amazing to hear the children supporting each other throughout the morning and to see children giving everything for their house team.  As I type this, the cloud cover has gone, the sun is out and it's very hot again - running in this heat isn't safe and so thank you to the parents, friends and relatives for supporting our event, despite the rearranged timings to safeguard the children. Apologies to those of you who wanted to come but couldn't.

As always, huge thanks to GLK. We also an excellent support crew of secondary school students, most of them former Grendon pupils (please come again next year!) - they were absolutely brilliant and continue to be a real credit to their schools and parents.

Congratulations to green house for another impressive win in a very close fought contest!

Courageous Advocacy

You may remember that Willow Class created business enterprises as part of their Global Curriculum theme of Mexico. They studied the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and wanted to raise money for the continuing operation of keeping our oceans clean of pollution (whilst also adopting a dolphin named Voldemort). The Sea Watch Foundation was so impressed with the pupils' fundraising that they chose to feature their business enterprise in the subscribers' newsletter.

One phrase you will hopefully hear more about next year is 'courageous advocacy'. The general principles behind couragoeus advocacy are listed below (along with the Sea Watch Foundation newsletter article) and reflect the many real-life initiatives that pupils lead in school which result in meaningful actions - recent examples including the Social Enterprise in Senegal, Pine's pizza restaurant, Heath's recent cake sale and the fundraising for the Sea Watch Foundation.

End Of Year Photos

I know that many of you arrange your friendship and Buddy photos after school and on the last day of term but we managed to squeeze in some time on Monday some informal year group and Buddy photos in the small gap between Mary Poppins and the busy end of year run in that includes Sports Day, Pine's Italian restaurant, Leavers' Assembly, FOGS Summer Fayre and the family picnic! Photos will be shared with parents (Year 2 - Year 6) via Teams and for Reception and Year 1 via email.
