Perranporth 2026 Year 6 returned on Friday from a wonderful residential to Perranporth. It was a privilege to take such a fantastic group of children away. It is only because we put so much faith in our pupils' excellent behaviour that we are able to run the Perranporth trip (particularly in a heatwave). The children were everything we hoped them to be - kind, funny, polite, brave, interested, sociable and independent. The decision to ask children leave Internet devices and phones at home is one that worked extremely well. It was great to travel to such a beautiful location and see the children fully appreciate the environment and interact so brilliantly with their friends - the children played chess, Scrabble, draughts, Monopoly and cards, spent hours talking to each other, played together and slept really well. The 'no Internet device' rule will be carried forward to future residentials and is also something that is consistent with secondary school residentials (I spoke to secondary colleagues about this at each of the Year 7 transition meetings we have had this term). Massive thanks as always to the staff for giving up their own time to participate in the residential. It is a huge commitment and without their support, trips like this wouldn't take place. | | Heatwave Thank you for your support in helping school to get through a particularly challenging week. The loan of fans and supplies of cold drinks, ice creams, lollies and watermelon were appreciated more than you can imagine. The children were well prepared for the heat with their water bottles, suncream and hats and this helped enormously. School staff worked extremely hard to manage learning, behaviour and, above all else, children's safety - a tough week but one where everyone pulled together to make it work. Next week also looks to be very hot - children will be able to wear PE shorts with their polo shirts throughout next week if they would like to. |
Sports Day Sports Day will take place on Tuesday 14th July. The first race will begin at approximately 1.30pm. All are welcome. For those of you who have never been before, the format is simple. Parents on one side of the running track, staff and pupils on the other side. Races come thick and fast, one at a time, with lots of cheering from everyone! Children should wear, if possible, a plain t-shirt in the colour of their house (no logos/patterns). If your child is not sure of their house colour, please check with their teacher or the school office. | |
FOGS Summer Fayre & our Family Picnic FOGS Summer Fayre and our Family Picnic will take place on the last day of term which is Friday 17th July. Once again, FOGS will be hosting their very popular Summer Fayre on the last day of term up on the playing field - please see the poster below. The Family Picnic takes place on school site from 11.30am. Families should feel free to come onto the school grounds from this time to set up on the grass bank. The day is very informal and you can stay as long as you like! Bottle Tombola Mufti On Friday 10th July, children are allowed to come to school in Mufti in return for a voluntary contribution of a bottle for the FOGS Bottle Tombola. Bottles can be dropped to the school office any time before or on the 10th July. Many thanks for your support. | | School Communication WhatsApp and other messaging platforms have become part of daily life for almost all of us. | Summer Clean-Up Following the cancelled Summer Clean-Up, one of our parents, Mr Wakefield, kindly offered to bring together a large team of colleagues from Barclaycard to spend a day on school site to complete as many of the outstanding jobs as possible as part of their community outreach work. The project includes a grant of £1000 to purchase materials and equipment. The work is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 21st July. One of the jobs on the list is to slab the muddy vehicle entrance to the playground on Parsons Close- an area approximately 3 x 4m. If you know someone with a mini-digger who would be able to dig out a few inches of topsoil from this area a day or two before the 21st July, please let me know and I'll pass the information on to Mr Wakefield.
| Mary Poppins Tickets Many thanks for returning ticket requests for Mary Poppins. These are all now being processed and we will update you when your tickets are available to purchase on ParentPay. | |
