Dear Visitor

Harvest Service - Wednesday 22nd October at 1.30pm

We hope to see you all at Wednesday's Harvest Service. Children are looking forward to sharing some amazing singing and also the work they have prepared in the build-up to harvest. On Wednesday, school will be open until 3.30pm as normal but parents can collect from school after the service if they would like to.

The school is asking for donations of non-perishable foods which will go the Daylight Centre and cash donations for our Social Enterprise in Senegal.

Daylight Centre

The Daylight Centre is a local charity that supports disadvantaged and vulnerable adults particularly rough sleepers, vulnerably housed, those in poverty and those who are socially isolated.

Social Enterprise In Senegal

Pupils have been learning more about the school's social enterprise in Ziguinchor, Senegal - The Chicken Business. This thriving business began with financial support from school over 10 years ago and is an amazing example of sustainability.

Cherif, the chicken farmer, is now hoping to work with us to help more and more local children and young adults to access education. In a region where unemployment is above 50% and two thirds of the population is 'food insecure' (which means they do not have access to adequate nutrition), education is an important route to escaping poverty.

School and university fees are beyond the means of many families and our appeal this year is to help a local resident of Ziguinchor called Adja to attend a university course to gain her Baccalaureate. The cost of school fees, uniform and equipment for the 3 year course will cost in the region of 135,000 cfa (West African Francs) which equates to around £150 in total.

Time will be spent in school learning about the country and culture of Senegal, Cherif's remarkable work with the Chicken Business and Adja's progress as she works through University.

More on all of the above will be shared at the Harvest Service. Please support us if you can - even a small donation will go a very long way.

Donations of food for the Daylight Centre should be sent into school on Wednesday 22nd October
