  Hello Visitor,

Usborne Sponsored Read - Thank You FOGS!

Huge thanks to all of those who took part in the Usborne Sponsored Read organised by FOGS. Half term obviously provided a great opportunity for lots of reading to take place as the response to the challenge was fantastic! With a sponsorship total that now exceeds £600, Usborne have pledged an additional 60% on top of that amount which means that school has over £1000 to spend on brand news Usborne books!

Coronavirus

The school continues to follow the Coronavirus guidance of Public Health England. The advice is likely to be updated in the very near future and school will respond accordingly. For the latest guidance to educational settings, please see the link below.

Before School Childcare: Get Active

As you will know from previous newsletters, Get Active will run breakfast club after the Easter break for an initial period of 3 weeks. The link below takes you to the booking site for these sessions. Based on number of sessions booked, Get Active will make a decision as to whether the breakfast club provision can continue beyond the 3 week trial period. Get Active (via school) will communicate this decision to parents on Friday 24th April.

Engagement Week And A Visit From The TES!

February half term was a busy time in school with classrooms being stripped and new learning environments being created! The children returned after the half term break to discover USA, Italy, London and Greece. Huge thanks to the school staff who spent a considerable amount of half term in school working hard to prepare the classrooms for the pupils.

Engagement Week involved the children in a wide range of activities and there was a real buzz around school. We also had a visit in the first week back from the Times Educational Supplement who are writing an article about the school and editing a short video (we will share the links to these when we have them) following our Primary School of the Year award.

Sport Relief: Obstacle Course

The school is taking part in a Sport Relief obstacle course on Friday. Young Leaders from Wollaston School will be supporting the activity and we are looking forward to a fun inter-house competition! As a reminder of the event I have included some text from the letter sent out to pupils last week.

Each year group will take part with the aim of completing as many laps as possible within the time that they are given (differing for each year group). The number of laps that each child completes will be recorded, then added together with others in their coloured house group. The house with the highest total number of laps completed will be the winning house.

We are not asking children to collect sponsorship for this event as we are mindful that you have already made a fantastic contribution to our sponsored read. However, the school will be collecting voluntary donations which will be sent on to Sport Relief: the money that we raise as a school will make a huge difference to many lives. 50% of money raised for sports relief is used to transform lives in the UK, and the other 50% will fund projects in the world’s poorest countries. Please bring in your Sports Relief donations on Friday 13th March.

We ask that children come to school wearing sports clothes of their house group colour (red, blue, yellow or green) instead of their uniform.

Pupil Profiles

Teachers are beginning the process of updating your child's assessment records and there are still several Pupil Profiles that have not been returned to school. If your child's Pupil Profile is still lurking somewhere at home, please return it to school by the end of this week. Many thanks!
