History Off The Page
We were delighted to welcome back History Off The Page to school this week. They joined us to lead fanastic themed days on Ancient Egypt and Greece to support the children's wider Global Curriculum studies by immersing them in a day in the life of a Greek and Egyptian citizen. The children adopted various roles from slaves and soldiers to guards and oracles and took part in a range of role play and art and craft activities which the children clearly loved!
Miss Jenkinson Is Running The London Marathon!
Hello! I was lucky enough to gain a place in this year’s London Marathon through the ballot, however I want to try and raise funds for a local project whilst attempting the challenge. There are so many wonderful people achieving life-changing things that it puts running 26.2 short miles into insignificance.
I have chosen to raise money for a brilliant Community Interest Company Johnny's Happy Place.
JHP was started by the family and friends of Johnny Mackay who sadly took his own life in 2014. It is a welcoming, colourful cafe with homemade cakes and hot-food, books and lovely people to talk to. Food and drink is sold on a donation basis where people can come and sit for a few hours and read a book, make something arty, have a cup of tea, for free if they can’t afford it, meet new people and smile and have a well-needed laugh.
This heart-warming place supports those young and old with mental health issues and gives them a safe place to go.
By sponsoring me to run the London Marathon, not only are you helping me to cross the finish line, but you are helping JHP to organise different activities in and around the cafe area that would benefit the vulnerable adults and children around Northamptonshire and beyond who need it.
As Johnny’s Happy Place is still in it’s infancy, I am seeking donations that I will then give to them to help them continue their brilliant work and achieve their ambitions as a charity.
Thank you, thank you!
Good luck to Miss Jenkinson from everyone at Grendon School. We'll be watching TV on Sunday!
Marathon Mufti - TOMORROW!
To support Miss Jenkinson in her fundraising efforts, there will be a mufti day tomorrow, with voluntary contributions passed straight on to Johnny's Happy Place charity.
Many thanks for returning sponsor money for our whole school Sport Relief event which took place towards the end of last term.
I fantastic grand total of £1559 was raised!
