Grendon Church of England Primary School

Grendon CE Primary School is consistently amongst the highest performing school's in Northamptonshire with a strong reputation for innovative curriculum design. The school's unique approach to learning has received wide acclaim, including being named Primary School of the Year at the 2019 National TES School Awards, for rapidly improving standards, engaging children in learning and promoting global citizenship.

The World Class Curriculum was created in 2009 and has been developed by the school ever since. It is unique to Grendon CE Primary School and has received universal praise from OFSTED, Peterborough Diocese and all school stakeholders for raising standards, engaging children in learning and promoting global citizenship. Supplementing the curriculum are incredible Learning Environments which challenge the traditional view of the classroom and promote immersion in study.

Ofsted commented on the school's curriculum:

'The oustanding curriculum enthuses pupils and staff alike. It ensures that all pupils make excellent progress and reach high standards.'

'The curriculum has made an exceptional contribution to the achievement of all pupils throughout the school.'

'The curriculum and the learning environments are so enjoyable and stimulating that children cannot fail to learn.'

The World Class Curriculum is a knowledge and skills based approach to real life learning and was the catalyst for Grendon CE Primary School winning Primary School of the Year at the 2019 TES Schools Awards and being a finalist in the Creative School of the Year category in both 2015 and 2017.

All curriculum themes are organised through the Planning for a World Class Curriculum framework. Additionally, the school has prioritised 8 key principles for outstanding curriculum design and these are captured within the World Class Curriculum Handbook. This Handbook provides the basis for all school improvement work.

The World Class Curriculum Statement refers explicitly to Ofsted's new requirement for schools to articulate the Intent, Implementation and Impact of the curriculum.
